Hello @aral . We have been spending several days trying to understand why Rania can no longer see her friends on mastodon social, kolektiva social and mastodon world whereas they can see her account. We talked with the administrators, and there is no suspension, her account was not silenced either. @fabio knows about that too and we thought creating another account on a bigger server would be better for Rania so that she can see her friends again.

Already getting folks asking if it’s a scam account impersonating her.
The whole idea behind verification is that there is one account that we can attest is legitimate.

@aral @AnnaLion @raniareziq @Rania @rania40 @casey I think I communicated the situation to you at least twice, and Casey was also aware of it.
I also investigated the issue already, together with the admins: it was something I couldn’t wrap my head around. No suspensions, no limitations, perhaps broken federation on her (tiny) instance.
I promised to help her migrate followers to the new account, but of course it makes sense only after her new account is verified.
I’ll do my best to assist her with account migration.

@duchesse @raniareziq @Rania @rania40 @fabio In such cases we prefer to talk to the server admins and try to find out why and get it resolved that way if possible. We can’t have 200+ people switching servers when they feel like it. We just don’t have the resources to keep up with that.
And if multiple accounts exist, verification becomes meaningless.
So please don’t recommend this before talking to us.
