I recall Bill Gates sometime in the ‘90s saying something like ‘if cars had improved at the same rate as software, they’d go at hundreds of miles per hour and run for a year on a single tank of gas’. The head of one of the big car companies replied ‘Our customers are glad that our products don’t crash multiple times a day’.
