Is dark or light mode set in your system (OS level)? If there's anything wrong with any Mastodon Bird UI version, please let me know. Mastodon recently made major changes to the dark/light mode data attributes, and I'm not sure when those will appear in the stable versions since I'm using the nightly build.
Using Linux and Librewolf:
OS level light mode: Black digits
dark mode: White digits
