Is a "hot minute" greater than or less than a regular minute?

@catsalad reminds me of my favorite joke: Gonna take a hot shower. It's like a regular shower, but with me in it.

@catsalad

It should be larger. It's hot. Heat embiggens things.

@catsalad a hot minute is shorter than a hanson's mmmm bop, longer than a *minute* minute, and much shorter than "give me a sec"

@catsalad Was just discussing this with a friend a few days ago.

We believe that it is longer than a regular minute, but the jury is out on exactly how long.

We're still not sure how many hot seconds go into a hot minute or how many hot minutes are in an "the other day" or "the other week".

@catsalad You can literally take your pick.

Text of a dictionary definition of "hot minute":
1. (informal, idiomatic) A long period of time.
2. (informal, idiomatic) An extremely short period of time; a moment.
Synonym: red-hot minute
3. (informal, idiomatic) An unspecified period of time; a while.

@catsalad I was pretty sure it was a short minute. I'll get into a throw down about entropy with anyone who thinks it should be a long one.

a hot minute is much better, but also much shorter . . . when it's over, the old minute is still there, clomping along . . .

@catsalad Heat would make it expand so it occupies a greater volume, at the very least.
