the @rtlnieuws article reports that one of the complexities is that Venlo is a very busy station. LOL

That was my first reaction. If you have been in Venlo, I doubt that you ever thought that it was very busy.

@rtlnieuws @wikipedia @egonw The issue is probably the number of tracks and platforms, rather than the number of passengers. I would guess that Venlo doesn't have many tracks and platforms (exactly because it is small), so the logistics of adding an extra train in between the existing services is hard.

All the more reason to expand the station, of course!

@baszoetekouw true. but the train would run once an hour, and the current stop train does too. And that one current train is, I think, really the only train using platform 1a and does that for max 10 minutes.
