@dansup Mattermost seems like a good option if you decide to set up your own server, but there are other options, such as Matrix, if you need decentralization, but whichever is more convenient for you. Matrix is similar to Discord, while Mattermost is more like a classic forum organized by topics.

@dansup From personal experience, quite lacking in community-focused functionality or integrations in general. For communities, Zulip or a forum would be preferred.
