My local Indivisible group, #IndivisibleSantaFe, has a member who has fronted $1000 for whistle kits for ICE Watch. I would like to help reimburse him. I know there are plenty of other big causes, but if you can toss us a few bucks, we’d be grateful. ICE is snatching our neighbors. We are taking action. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/indivisiblesf371306689

Thank you to those who have sent support. We are ramping up assembly of the kits as we expand our contacts and Santa Fe’s ICE rapid response effort, spearheaded by some folks with ties to the likely most affected, ramps up. 1/

While we have received some free whistles and are now 3d printing some ourselves, I’m trying to defray costs of printing zines, buying lanyards. That’s why I ve asked for modest donations to #indivisibleSantaFe via our ActBlue portal. I understand that people have their own local efforts to support as well as national causes. I’m trying to defray $1000 cost one of our members has fronted. Hoping to raise another $600 on top of the $125 already raised. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/indivisiblesf371306689 2/

Photos of some kits we have made already. For the next round we will be using 3d printed whistles which do not come with lanyards, and attaching the zine to the lanyard so we can skip the cellophane bag. #NewMexico #SantaFe 3/

Two assembled whistle kits, one turned to show the front of the “protect each other” zine with info about how to use whistle signals, and one turned to show the back.

@heidilifeldman the bag helps keep the lanyards from tangling and becoming a mess of spaghetti. I was reminded of this at my last whistle party as my group was handed a bag of whistles on lanyards to package into bags.

Also, lots and lots of 3d printers are constantly going, people love to help so asking is worthwhile.

@heidilifeldman

Compliments and gratitude for your great work.

Out of curiosity and for similar projects: are 3D printed whistles cheaper than buying them in bulk?

A batch of 3d whistles from the great “whistle protect” consortium that arrived today, and the start of our own whistle printing effort. #NewMexico #SantaFe 4/4

@heidilifeldman I’m waiting for the people who cheerlead for 3D printed guns to call for restrictions on 3D printed whistles.

@heidilifeldman what does the plastic cost per whistle, do you know? I've been wondering whether someone should just import tons of injection molded whistles from somewhere for greater reach

@ferrix from one of our producers: “It's all going to depend on whistle design and weight. Mine are 2.15g, so I can get about about 465 whistles out of a spool of filament. Filament costs varies, but a good average is about $20, which is about 4.3 cents per whistle.”

@heidilifeldman Please don't be shy about asking for more if you need them or can use them. We're all very happy to keep the printers chugging. :)
