The language of "resistance" implies a movement that operates solely in defense. (We can have a conversation about what, SPECIFICALLY, we are defending.)
Successful movements for change MUST have a line of offense, and they MUST focus significant time & energy there.
Yes, keep the ground we've gained; yes, resist fascism. AND reserve as much you can to plan & execute the alternative world we're building.
Every fascist regime that falls into a vacuum is easily replaced with a worse equivalent.
@nat Did you ever notice that from 1980 on, the Democrats started playing SOLELY defense? Everything became about giving them more money to keep Americans from LOSING rights to the Republicans. They never tried to make a positive change for the working class after that.
In fact, the DNC did everything they could to *block* Medicare for all, even though that was a meek compromise on what people really wanted: a national health care system.
If the Democrats had created a national health care system instead of ObamaCare, which was nothing more than a a vast giveaway to the health insurance industry, they'd have earned the love and devotion of the voting public for generations. The oligarchs couldn't allow that; voters would start expecting even more. So the DNC did everything to destroy any chance of ANY positive gain for American workers.
They sold us out. They sold out our children. Denied millions of us basic health care, killing millions of us. For money.
There's no greater evil in the world than that.

That's just one of the layers of deception they've set up. They pretend that they fucked up, over and over. They have their cast of rotating villains to make sure they always lose.
Or they deliberately set things up to fail, like ObamaCare; Obama didn't have to block a public option, he CHOSE to. Even though he got nothing from the Republicans anyway. And a number of elements in ObamaCare - which, remember, was originally a Republican program from Mitt Romney - were intentionally designed to fail at the Supreme Court, as long as it was a right-wing one.
And how did we get a right-wing SCOTUS? By the Democrats "failing" to get a nomination, again and again. You think Ruth Bader Ginsburg made a mistake by not retiring during Obama's presidency? No. It was intentional.
The Republicans fought like hell to block Democratic nominees. The Democrats folded instantly, every time. The Dems pretended to be morons, but they're anything but. They're cold, calculating servants of the oligarchs who want fascism and human extinction.
If the Democrats regain the Presidency, the Senate, or the House (I won't say "regain power", because the power remains with the oligarchs), they will immediately become the most incompetent, helpless, and meek people on the face of the Earth - when they're dealing with the Republicans.
They'll only show the iron fist beneath the velvet glove when it comes to crushing the left. Because that's their job. It's what they do. It's what they ALWAYS do.
And that's the next layer of the onion. They will "lead" the left into complete failure. That not only fucks the left and serves the oligarchs; it also helps discredit the whole IDEA of a left in America, because "they always fail".
That's why so many poor people voted for Trump. He projected strength, and pretended to care about them. The Democrats projected USELESSNESS and insisted that everything was okay - including the genocide in Gaza.
The Democrats are the fist of the oligarchs against the left. They're the treacherous snakes, while the Republicans are the rabid dogs. Both must be destroyed...but most of all, the oligarchs who are killing off humanity have to go.
It's them or us.
We fight, or we die.
