I made a WhatsApp group and a Signal group for local Meshtastic, and announced it in the Big Local WhatsApp Group that has over 600 members (the town only has about 2,098 people, according to the ONS).
People started joining and then announcing that they'd dug out their nodes and turned them on for the first time in ages.
There are now 22 people in the WhatsApp group, and 14 in the Signal group, and people are collaborating to find good locations for Meshtastic nodes to connect up the people in the little local villages and valleys. 🥹
