Shane Jones is the most disappointing of all the Māori MPs, the way he was raised, he should know better.

Surprisingly, Shane Jones wasn't always a bloated, arrogant cooker.

A photo of Shane Jones in 1990. He's bearded, seems to be holding some sort of sword and is wearing a t-shirt with the slogan "Aotearoa 1990, 150 years of oppression". This photo was taken before Jones sold out his principles and became a complete cunt.

@BobLefridge @mementomaori I'd really like to understand more about his trajectory - whether he was always opportunistic, or something big happened to him, or if he was courted and persuaded - there is something to learn there I feel.

I’m not saying he’s corrupt, but his behaviour is indistinguishable from corruption.

Also the declared amounts are embarrassingly small. Disappointing. Couple of thousand here, up to 10,000 there. For fast track approvals worth millions.

Specifically for Shane Jones in 2023:

https://www.elections.nz/assets/Uploads/Jones-S-Northland.pdf

It’s near impossible to read in this screenshot of a PDF of a scan of a printed form, but the list of donors includes a mining company, a forestry company, horse racing, and a seafood company. Looking into a few other individuals they’re associated with forestry as well.

@stephen @mementomaori @BobLefridge

A terrible screenshot of a form. Many numbers. Lots of text.
