@mastodonmigration

Folks should already be boycotting Substack

Substack’s “Nazi problem” won’t go away after push notification apology

Substack may be legitimizing neo-Nazis as “thought leaders,” researcher warns.

Agree, but it's a heavy lift. Most of the 'thought leaders' like Heather Cox Richardson and Paul Krugman make their livings now on Substack. They could switch to Ghost, like Molly White @molly0xfff (https://www.citationneeded.news/) and Dave Troy @davetroy (https://america2.news/), but it would take real fortitude. They would need to summon the courage of their convictions.

@mastodonmigration @notyourfanboy @molly0xfff @davetroy it's supposed to be very easy, at least it was, and I will not give you a dime on Substack.

After I called one person out they switched to Ghost and said it was very simple.

It is not really a technical matter. It is a mindset. It's the same reason all these people use #Bluesky now. They do not connect their actions with their words. They do not comprehend, or choose to ignore, that facilitating their opposition through their platform choice is contrary to their purpose.

The opposition understands this very well.

The inability of the left to make good tactical decisions about media is a critical weakness.

@mastodonmigration @notyourfanboy @molly0xfff @davetroy I'm on bsky, because it was much better than Mastodon when I finally left Twitter, but this place is catching up. It has very real problems, but it doesn't have the intrinsic flaws that bsky has.

Glad to hear you think Mastodon is improving.

Thing is, it is not so much about what Mastodon is now. It's about what public social media needs to be. And we all have a role in building it.

There really is no legitimate excuse. Not anymore.
