Regarding the Amazon mass layoffs, I am sure all those people could still work and the company would continue to be profitable, but somebody somewhere calculated in an excel sheet that firing them would make the company grow some percent faster and make the stock value some percent higher, so goodbye thousands.

I hate that workers are disposable, while "growth" is sacred. The worst part of capitalism.
