Also there's a writing competition tied to a literary festival, a real one instead of the scammy pay to enter kind of competition, that I'm kind of tempted to write something for. It's prestigious enough that my chances of winning are basically nil, but I like the idea of using it as a prompt, a step in becoming less freaked out by submitting to open submissions, and at the very worst I'd have another essay for my blog.
So kind of just want to sit with some ideas, make some notes...

I love photography, I really enjoy it, but I don't feel nearly the same drive to improve as I do when it comes to the craft of writing. I'm more ambitious, if that's the right word, when it comes to writing. I haven't figured out the what or how yet, but I really want to find a writing group, or do a workshop, or otherwise find a way to try to improve that includes other people. I want to get better!
