@wearenew_public @anneapplebaum between federated tech, like mastodon, email, and web pages, and open source software, like Linux and LibreOffice, the biggest problem with ditching fascist controlled companies is the giant cloud providers. Hardware is more scarce than software.

Our friends at the brand new Modal Foundation are focused on this through their project Eurosky, which aims to build out the infrastructure that would allow over 450 million people in the EU to experience the social internet outside of Silicon Valley apps.
