Unilever sells ~1700 highly polluting plastic sachets per second, dumping huge amounts of waste on the Global South.
We can't #recycle our way out of the #plastic crisis.
It’s time for real solutions! Demand Unilever stop single-use & invest in reuse & refill.

@greenpeace Recycling in this country usually mean burning. They brand it as #EFW “energy from waste”. The incinerators that burn the “waste” are the source of chronic pollution and rely heavily on plastics to ensure that they burn hot enough because with it they don’t work. There is also the added bonus that it’s enabling the linear economic model to thrive as we blithely think we’re doing good work by recycling our plastic. Sir J Radclif of #Ineios is one of the beneficiaries of this linear modality. He’s a benefactor of primary plastic production at his Grangemouth refinery. He also lives abroad in Monoco for tax reasons. #TaxTheRich

Learn more about how refill and reuse is already working:

Reuse is working. It’s time for major brands like Unilever to help it grow.

Reuse at scale isn’t a distant ambition. It’s happening right now, despite the companies still profiting from the status quo.
