Prepare to see the American Gestapo deployed to polling places in November.

HuffPost

Trump And Stephen Miller Have Created A Secret Police Force In Plain Sight

After promising to focus on deporting criminal illegal immigrants, Trump is instead using militarized immigration agencies to terrorize cities where he is unpopular.

@gleick why else an organisation is funded to the tunes of what was it 300+ Billion?. If people are too stupid or apathetic to think that is what is needed for "rounding up and deporting illegal aliens"... Good luck.

@gleick Good luck to them with that if they try. There are just too many polling places. Even if they just target blue areas where polling places have been trimmed down by gerrymandering, it's still too many by a huge factor.

@tknarr They are going to target blue areas, and Black neighborhoods, and they are going to create fear and intimidation, and even if it only affects one voter in ten, that could be all they need.

@gleick They don't have enough people, and they'll have even fewer by then. If they show up they'll get swarmed worse than they are now, and it's bad enough now they're running away as soon as it starts. They already can't get applicants, by then they'll be actively losing personnel. They'd need 100x as many agents as they currently have, and they don't and won't have them.

@gleick 1 in 10 is a hell of a lot. The 2018 midterms had 122 million voters and 2022 had about 112M.

I absolutely agree that they're going to interfere with the midterms but I'm cautiously optimistic that turnout will be too high (and the administration too incompetent) for them to stop the House flipping.

But it's going to be ugly. Uglier than it is already. @tknarr

@gleick They're just deputized Proud Boys standing in for Nazi Brownshirts.

The GOP stands explicitly for Right Wing terrorism, vigilantism and fascism. Every elected knows it and the Democrats are afraid to say it out loud because it'll hurt somebody's feelings.

@gleick The postmark mail bullshit, deployment of ICEstapo in blue states, threatening to use the Insurrection Act, Palantir and killing white US citizens.

Yeah, welcome to the NSA, Nazi States of America. Anyone who thinks the (accessibility of) elections won't be rigged HAS NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION!

Given the difficulty, they are having recruiting people even those were simply a pulse, they are going to only be able to terrorize certain areas, but they are going to focus on Democratic strongholds.

The smart thing would be to focus on competitive districts. I don’t know if they are smart enough for that but idiot savant.

Clearly what they are doing is dry runs for permanent gaze style invasion, and occupation of cities.

Gaza was always a blueprint for this kind of stuff

@gleick I've been predicting this for over a year. I fully expect to see key blue cities locked down on election day, because there is no mechanism in American electoral law to postpone or redo an election after its been completed. Military locked down the street because of "insurrection" and you couldn't go to the polls? Sucks to be you, should have lived in an area that was compliant. And by "complaint" we mean likely to vote for the party in power. Your fault, really.
