@IzzyChambers maddening. We’re a social species and we’ve normalised self-destruction

@urlyman I had a similar reaction, my throughout-the-day cuddles with the two dogs and three cats I share my space with coming to mind.

Then I thought about industrial pig barns that are all over my province providing my bacon, all those pigs stuffed into tiny crates their entire lives.

Steak at least gets to hang out in a field, far as I know. But my point is, other than vegans, we don't treat animals very well. So I hope life does not do that. But if it does, I guess I was speaking my wish to be treated as a cow rather than a bacon pig.

It's bad to have me expand on something, it can just keep getting worse the more you let me.

@jpaskaruk cheers for expanding 😊

I’m just kinda weary today at all the be in this place don’t be in that place, do this don’t do that, share an article from there but not like that.

But give me a few hours and I’ll be adding to it 🤦‍♂️

@urlyman I was terrified of Threads at first, because of the observed long-term pattern of people just walking happily into corporate corrals on the internet. But it does not seem to have really affected the place much at all, from my instance.

I cannot think of a lot of boostable content from there, presumably because it's going to be tainted by the Instagram culture, and therefore we won't like it, mostly.

We need to stop trying to perfect the soul of man, and just try to make things easier for everyone. Obviously this is contrary to the desires of capital, but now that the fascism has fully arrived, people will start to really understand things.

…I’m close to 100% vegan but I’m a vegassymptote.

Nevertheless, there are places in the world where veganism predates the jackpot of fossil fuels and *might* be able to again when that’s gone, and there are places where it didn’t because it can’t and never will.

So although I broadly think that W.E.I.R.D. people who eat animals *in our current era* are helping accelerate themselves and me off a cliff, I’m disinterested in purity games

…yeah yeah I know, the screenshot is of a polemical joke that is both serious and not.

But what we really lack in our present moment is seeing the common ground we stand on

…Just as an example. I know people who are very committed to veganism and cool with flying. Flying is an intrinsic part of our acceleration. Its cultural effects are way worse than its considerable emissions and our acceleration is absolutely destroying animals

@urlyman I have so many friends who fly frequently for pleasure. I've tried to explain to some of them why I don't do that, but my words seem to simply bounce off their skulls.
