It seems the #medmastodon instance disappeared very abruptly and this leaves lots of doctors, scientiests and academics effectively wiped off of the fediverse.
Unfortunately, the server has shut down. You'll need to find another instance or have yourself or your organization create one.
We've created an activitypub group @medmastodon@poliverso.org to allow orphaned #medmastodon users to find each other.

thanks, that's good to know about! There are several Fediverse (Mastodon, and other) admins or experienced moderator-community team members who are seeking ways to help or support a transition.
The blocker is, of course, finding the people who lost their accounts. After that, the technical of setting up a new (and more stable) instance has a lot of support, but there needs to be 2-3 community members willing to actively manage the server as a team.
@johannab yep. I made a new account a couple days after it disappeared. Follows and followers are the main loss.
