@tinker Beautiful movie.
@tinker I stayed at that hotel once! Nicest stay I've ever had
@tinker I love that film! Sofia Coppola is such a brilliant director, and always has such great taste in music. LiT really brings out the best in both Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray.
@tinker I’ll have to watch it again. It’s been years!!
@shawnhooper - It's been 22 years since the film came out!
@tinker it’s been at least 10 since I’ve seen it.
love the idea of tinwhistles during movies, which may be why i'm not allowed to have my collection of them upstairs in the den. :)
@paul_ipv6 - Hahaha, I'm trying to learn how to play by ear. So if I hear a tune, i try to mimic the notes on my whistle. I'm terrible at it. It sounds horrible. Hahaha, but its fun and I'm learning.
@tinker this is the way! I started out almost a decade ago now, and have been playing in our local session for a few years. https://thsession.org/ is an amazing resource, it can play any tune somebody saved in it and it has almost everything now. They’re ideal for long conf calls - go on mute, whistle a bit, drop it as soon as your name is mentioned and nobody is the wiser… @paul_ipv6
@tinker @paul_ipv6 by ear is the best way. At music camp they'd only give us the music at the end of the week.
the more you try, the better your ear will get. as you get more confident with fingerings, you'll also be able to work a bit on breath control, which will get a cleaner tone. definitely have fun with it. whistle is a very approachable and fun instrument.
@paul_ipv6 - I appreciate the encouragement. More than you know. 🫶
