They don't have any other resources, and they can;t afford to have the educated population that they need to develop better technology as an educated population would revolt against the authoritarian rulers, as nearly happened in the Arab Spring.

The people in the top don;t care about how many people die due to climate change, as long as they stay in charge.

@BillySmith @Herman @HeavenlyPossum It's worse than that: It's the promise that we can keep burning fossil fuels because someone is going to put it back in the ground later on.

This is all true for hydrogen too. "Keep investing in natural gas infrastructure, because we can just switch it all to hydrogen later on."

All empty reassurances that we don't need to sacrifice any of our comforts or conveniences, or make difficult political decisions, because the future people will fix it for us.

This is NOT a Carbon Capture technology.

This is a Carbon Dioxide Conversion technology.

It takes atmospheric CO2, distilled H2O, and electricity, then uses those ingredients to create Manufacturable Hydrocarbon chains.

The Fossil part of the Hydrocarbon Energy Supply Chain is completely obsolete.

If it wasn't for the AI bubble, this would be causing economic collapse, as the value of the fossil fuel companies should be falling through the floor.

Most of the oil companies are servicing debts that are backed by the value of their future reserves, but those are completely unusable, as if that much CO2 is emitted, we will all die due to overheating.

The scarcity of Fossil Fuels has meant that they have been used for Hydraulic Despotism of energy resources, and those are now obsolete.

It's why Russia invaded Ukraine, as a last gasp attempt to remain politically relevant.

All of Russia's economy is bound into Fossil Fuel extraction, and if that is made obsolete, then the Russian economy will implode.

Same for part of the USA economy that is built around extraction. Same for most of the countries in the Middle East.

We already have ALL of the tools to create an Economy of Abundance, but instead we are using them to perpetuate a system built around the Economy of Scarcity.

We need to do things differently.
