Prior to 1989, when Eastern Europeans fled to the United States to escape communism, I never imagined that four decades later, American’s would be fleeing to Europe to escape fascism.

@randahl you don’t escape the tax system which is a problem. The US is only one of two countries to tax based on citizenship and has an expectation to know all of your finances when you don’t even live there.
@randahl no one could or would have. USA always was problematic in some ways at the same time always had many positive & great counter points to make up for them. At this point it is not possible anymore to outweigh the harsh reality of USA being a fascist rogue state, weak and brittle. I just hope it turns back to its best glory form.

A similar movement happened also in the 1950s during #mccarthyism albeit on a much smaller scale. Creative industries in #europe benefitted as a result. This was especially the case in the #uk . Worth recalling that #roycohn - later a mentor to #trump - was also #mccarthy's right hand man at the time!
