I said this is so clearly fraudulent, there’s probably going to be a class action lawsuit over it.

The manager put me back on hold w/o asking me. I hung up.

I fully anticipate receiving “upgraded” tech from Verizon in the mail next week, and a new bill with a $60 price hike & a $25 "discount"

The manager told me it wasn’t fraudulent or false advertising because Verizon didn’t realize that I had the old technology that needed to be upgraded.

I said, that’s preposterous, because Verizon is the one that sent me the email “discount” offer & of course the company knows what tech I have

@aram Steve Novella on the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe podcast recently shared his experience transferring a Verizon number to a new phone. After several hours, Verizon staff managed to accidentally disconnect the accounts of every member of his household. He said it appeared nobody at Verizon understood how their own internal systems worked.

@aram Verizon sent me a letter in the mail one month saying they couldn't deliver an e-statement via the specified contact info and threatened that if that continued they'd revert me to paper statements.

The specified contact info—cited in the letter—is the phone number I pay them for *and that they provide service for*.

I'm not 100% sure they know what tech you have.

If/when that happens, I will be reaching out to #classAction attorneys to initiate a suit against Verizon. I’ll keep this thread up in case any other potential class actors have experienced the same scam.

@aram Not that surprising alas. We have VZ and Comcast as available ISPs and they periodically "fix" problems by accidently digging up each others lines. VZ sent an email that our router is old, out of service, and they can make it *all better* with a new service contract and more gear. I've procrastinated, knowing which levels of hell I'm going to need to go through.
