People buy bikes. They ride them. Plenty of them ride them to work. Congestion and pollution is reduced. People get fitter. They take less sick days and they're less likely to drop dead from a long list of preventable diseases down the line. We're told the "cost" of the scheme was £150m last year. How many of the externalities are taken into account? As usual, precisely none. #cycling #BikeTooter 5/n

Meanwhile the "cost" of subsidizing EVs over the same period is over £600m, not even counting subsidies for installing a charger. How many of the issues in city transport does that scheme address? Half of one. #cycling #BikeTooter 6/n
