@pluralistic @nzlemming look, Mamdani is about as red in this sense as Icelandic politicians (or any other vaguely humanist progressive that's truly left of center). The unhinging from parts of the US polity and media is a crystal-clear reflection of both 1950s scare tactics and the warped sense the US has of what socialism is.

@pluralistic || And to add to the absurd . . Much of Mamdani's platform is the government we had in the 60's,70's. We were working on fixing the rest when Nixon/Agnew & the Moral Majority started taking it apart, So here we are 65 years later trying to get back the economy that was the most productive and creative the US has ever seen. It's going to take another 20 years to get back to what we had, to fix the screw ups. I just hope it continues. Keep it up, this is where we needed to be. Peace
