@randahl I think that you are reading too much into this... the election was a farce. There were only two options (the third candidate withdrew during the campaign) because the main political parties blocked other candidates. There was a record spoilt vote.

@randahl Not as exciting as you might imagine. It was a deeply flawed presidential election, arguably the worst ever. The left or right wing preference of the candidates should be irrelevant as the job is non-political. But it was politicised and terrible candidates offered by govt parties, one of whom withdrew after a financial scandal and the other was hopeless. 13% spoiled votes in protest (inc mine), normally it's 1% (mostly cranks).
