@EUCommission
It is important to teach personal financial skills. It is concerning that especially young people have an increasingly hard time balancing their expenses and incomes.

Wanting to raise financial awareness does not mean blaming people of their hard situations. Unemployment and lack of income is rarely one's own fault.

I find it positive that there's efforts on making SIAs accessible to everyone. They are a concrete way of getting regular people to start investing.

@EUCommission This smacks of companies overworking their employees and then having a wellness day where they're told to do yoga to cope. Tackle inequality.

And for the sake of honesty, your course should tell people that plenty of our EU money has blood stains on it.

@EUCommission you want poor / middle income people to invest? Only to drive stock prices up for the rich to cash in I guess. If you want a real change, better start with wealth tax

@EUCommission Teaching people about investing and redirecting more investments back into Europe are definitely good.

The framing of your post makes the good think look bad though. People who are broke can't invest by definition. If someone has discretionary income they can afford to risk, they are not broke. Please get some young people to screen your posts beforehand.

@EUCommission all the studies about poverty say it is first and foremost a LACK OF MONEY issue that is most simply fixed by GIVING POOR PEOPLE MORE MONEY.

@EUCommission wait, can dropping poverty rates happen simply by giving people money? does this actually work?

yes. yes it does and saying anything else or blaiming the poor for lack of political will to reduce poverty is neck deep shit move that shows just how deep one is in the capitalism and neoliberal sliding into fascism bullshit. https://hachyderm.io/@scottsantens/115293611497407603

maybe strengthen your social system in a way that people don't become poor in the first place instead of telling them to save up money they don't have?

@EUCommission What the fuck is this victim-blaming shit? Neo-liberalism through austerity and general right-wing influence are making people poor not personal bad financial decisions. And EU rules such as the arbitrary 3% deficit rule certainly don't help with that either...

@EUCommission I think whoever manages this account should look into filtering these posts based on the audience, fedi is not where you want to be posting this kind of content. These posts for example could focus on direct positive changes that the EU made for the working class, minorities and climate, like renewable energy investments, moving taxes from low income to higher income households and so on.

I'd rather see a hundred posts about building wind energy in france or solar in spain that say the same thing but in a different town than "We can't help you being poor, we can only inform you how to help yourself" when we all know it's wrong

@EUCommission Instead of asking poor people to save money they don't have, how about asking rich people for the money they hoarded and don't need? Do your job: regulate and tax the rich.
