There's a hooole in my bowl!

Hole dug. Tank found. Tomorrow we go on, starting early in the morning. Sunday we keep going. Monday, hopefully, we’ll be done.
What will happen next?

Sounds good - less than expected. I hope it goes smoothly. Meanwhile, do you have plumbing? I guess it will be off for part of the job.

@ajlewis2 yes, we have, partially. One pipe is broken but the others are ok and the situation isn't that bad.
The good news is: I expected serious problems at the septic tank level. The bad news: if the septic tank isn't that bad, there must be something else. And we'll have to remove some plants I love.

@span stefano

Ha! We thought we had a clogged pipe and had the pipes cleaned. Nothing found. Probably the septic tank is not draining as fast as it should. So, the cleaning cost us, but at least we know what the problem is not. Tomorrow we get more info from an investigation of the tank. We had it drained within two years, but something is not good. Thought of you. 🙂

@ajlewis2 good luck! We had to dig, drain the tank, change some pipes and fix some other things. It's not been that easy, but we might be in the final part of the mess 🙂
Let me know how it will go there!

@stefano

Our tank is good, but we need a new drain field. It's 50 years old and water gushed from the field back to the tank when the guy drained the tank to have a look. So effluent can go out of the tank, but very slowly because the drainage in the field is bad. We are okay with it, though it'll be a mess, I think. It looks like the diagnosis is done which I'm happy about.

@ajlewis2 it doesn't seem that bad. Let's hope it will be easy to solve!

@EF @ajlewis2 yes, we'll try. there's a (not low) probabilty that the plants broke the pipes and their roots followed the water. In that situation, the roots (or, at least, part of them) will be broken and I'm not sure they'll survive.
I'll try to make sure we can save them and I've already prepared a new place for them.

@stefano @ajlewis2 you may wish to hard prune them if you've lost some of the roots to reduce the greenery. Most thongs transplant with a bit of love, bit of food and water plus a bit of care. Warm and cool weather helps too. Good luck.

@EF @ajlewis2 thank you. I'll try to do my best. The last time my in-laws had to remove 6 oleanders, we've been able to save 5 of them (the 6th was already I'll). Now those plants are gorgeous.
