So Angela #Rayner has resigned.

She’s being cast as a tax evader on stamp duty due to not seeking the right level of advice into the complex arrangements around having a property in trust for a disabled son.

I assume fishing trips into the financial affairs of all MPs regardless of party affiliation or gender will now become standard. Or will they?

Not a good day for Labour, female politicians, working class or those who care for their disabled adult children.

Having just read #Rayner’s heartfelt resignation letter, it’s clear what a loss to the #Labour Party, trade union movement, workers and renters her departure really is.

And was a scalp she was to the bitter misogynistic rightwing media.

So who will replace her?

A centrist or someone from the Left?

I guess the party decides.

But #Rayner received some level of sympathy from the Telegraph’s tax columnist, a former accountant (says something of the financial complexity of its readership? 😉

“The fact is, the stamp duty rules are very complex and I have to admit that last week when I was asked about this I had not appreciated how the trust complicated matters. I can therefore understand that others can become confused”
