Wearable technology is amazing until you realize you can’t program your watch to wake you up after you’ve slept for a certain amount of time during daytime without jumping through millions of hoops.

Also a person should be able to modify its software significantly if they own the said product. Why is it a crime?

@farah Sorry, I'm not a fan of smart watches. It just seems to me that doing *anything* on a smart watch requires jumping through a million hoops simply because watches offer far too few usable controls.

@farah
That's part of the reason why I preordered the revived #Pebble.

It runs a fully open source operating system, and its companion app is (will be?) open source as well. So the things you mention should be possible. 🤞

@farah I don't own a smartwatch, but you're right - you really should be able to say, hey wake me up after I've slept for an hour.

@davidnjoku Right? I mean people can say set a timer or alarm but it really isn’t the same. Specially when it has my sleep/movement data already

@catmisgivings I have to take off my watch whenever I’m crafting like knitting or needlepoint because it thinks I’m being very active
