Washington DC folks:

"Police have set up a checkpoint and appear to be stopping every single car on 14th st NW, between W+V, here in northwest DC. Some cars are being pulled over after being stopped.

Some police are wearing “HSI police” vests (Homeland Security Investigations)"

Can confirm this has been vetted by trusted organizations & people I know.

@shauna - remember all those old films where regular citizens or travellers would be stopped on trains or at roadblocks and and the demand to ‘see your papers’ was from a terse guard with an East Bloc accent?
Welcome to the US.
The guard may have an accent from Alabama or Texas or wherever the government hired former January 6 participant from, but the effect is the same.

The Feds are now stopping ALL traffic at 14th Street between V and W, NW DC?

That's adjacent to the highly popular, generally liberal, nightlife area known as the U Street Corridor. Lots of young people, lots of eating and drinking. It's also two or three blocks from a large Metro PD branch.

This is fucking around for photo ops. It's not lowering crime or making anyone safer. It's bigfooting for the camera.
