It's important to help folks avoid works that will genuinely leave them sobbing in a corner all weekend with flashbacks. That's legitimate!

But in this day and age, having obvious, visible content warnings means that malicious actors can just search for them and get works pulled down.

Agency! yay!

@zkat Does something like this help you?

https://www.schneier.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/paper-clueless-agents.pdf

One imagined use case for that is for a "blind search" of a patent database, which is where you want to know if a patent exists but don't want to reveal your idea for a similar patent.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve, tbh, but it seems that there might be some overlap there.

@zkat this sounds rad. Is there anything I could read to help me understand the use of terms like "market stall" and "bazaar" in this context?

@zkat just brainstorming a bit here, and in no way experienced with the cryptography concepts involved. So maybe just silly thoughts..

I always wondered why #OpenBadges are so often associated with the narrow field of education. They have broad applicability. Maybe bending them a bit for different use cases as the ones you think about may be possible? Have that technology base as starting point. There's an #ActivityPub fedi project called @badgefed too.

@smallcircles @badgefed this is a bit the opposite of the end goal here: we want things that are claimed by the seller but who only the search index can verify, and never expose

Ah, I see. I just learned about your project and am reading through the various repo's. Very interesting, and there definitely is a real need.

(PS, as soon as you decide on using ActivityPub - I do understand the "scream" sentiment - I can add it to https://delightful.coding.social fediverse experience list.)
