When it's apparently felt that it's best practice to put Content Warnings on posts about CHEESE, it's hard to argue with observers who consider #Mastodon to be rather deeply "woke".

@lauren the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Often times CW are useful simply for adding additional generic terms to a post that people will more likely be filtering. When it gets overused like that it makes a good feature seem unnecessarily irritating.

@lauren To be deeply 'woke' is good, though, imo. If it helps, you may be able to adjust prefs to always show content, which presumably overrides CWs, although that might not be a universal feature across all apps.

@lauren if someone is triggered by seeing a picture of FOOD, then maybe what they need is mental healthcare and not an open environment , not-walled-garden *social* media. not because it annoys the rest of us, but for their own good.

The "CW EVERYTHING!!!1111" crowd is deeply irritating, and they resort to whatever excuses to report someone for their hurt feefees, because someone else didn't use the internet the way THEY want want other people to do.
