@nazokiyoubinbou @gettingcomputey @Binder The 'poor people won't work' is what they say, but what they actually mean is 'if you remove the threat of homelessness and starvation, they will demand a fair market wage'.
Think how much people are currently paid to clean public toilets. To my mind, this should be one of the highest-paid jobs in the country:
- It unambiguously makes the world better.
- It has a clear measurable result.
- Almost no one actually wants to do it (some people really love the feeling of achievement from cleaning something that's really dirty, but not enough to meet demand)
In a functioning labour market, this combination would result in it being a highly paid job.
Remember, free-market evangelists really hate it when there's a functioning free market for labour.
