@daisy In this case my wife installed it so she could disable all of the data collection stuff and basically turn off all the harmful smart features without *fully* disconnecting it from the network. We like to have it connected on the LAN so we can let Home Assistant automate it, but we don’t want it talking to LG’s services. If you don’t care about that, you can always choose not to connect it to wifi at all.
@misty
This suggests it may connect to other Wi-Fi without consent :
"In a Monday episode of the "Legal AF" podcast, lawyer and legal analyst Michael Popok unloaded on Mullin after the secretary suggested federal agents could turn up where people cast their ballots. Popok said Mullin, or "somebody," needs a lesson in "18 United States Code 592" and "593," the statutes that govern "armed forces or troops at polling places.""

@lauren I've gotten a teeny tiny taste of that with many live radio (and a few live TV) interviews. Even remotely, the level of chaos before the interview starts is impressive. And I've never yet had a host/producer/tech drop my interview, even on the tiniest radio stations. Truly impressive work. (I'm glad it's not my work, that sounds stressful!)
@sundogplanets New tech can sometimes even add complications. Most interviews originally were done by phone or ISDN (the latter now completely defunct), but now Zoom is common for the audio feeds, even though for radio the video aspect is usually unnecessary.

Finally watched Obsession.
This answer regarding Black Magic from the FAQ of The Green Man Shoppe & Apothecary seems to sum up the horror the film portrays:
*To do magical or spiritual work to bend the will of another person to our own is to seek to negate that freedom...If love is what you wanted, if your spell works, what you will get is slavery. If you don’t see the problem with that, then at least consider the consequences for yourself. What you enslave you are enslaved to.*
Or the Oce-tot...i dunno, make an effort!

Allright. How about this #nightimewakeningfeverthoughts:
#AI has made the #www less visible, the same way electricity/lighting made the night sky less visible. It's still there, you just have to get to the #outerlimits (https://youtu.be/48jSLNKLf8w?t=131&is=BGHwfLS_VpTjTGn5)

But tell me, in this your garden-- what is it there that slowly and out of sight, grows?
Folks never in live broadcasting generally have no idea how incredibly chaotic it can be leading up to the last minutes and in some cases even last seconds before air in radio and television. Yet somehow at zero it always seems to sound and look fine.
