OK, that shifted my feelings about Amnesty International from, "I feel sort of bad that they were bullied by a wealthy asshole." to, "Gosh, looks like Amnesty International is a massively shit organization. What a bunch of assholes. Fuck you."

@timberwraith
Hi. Are you talking about this one?
(on the archive.org website)
It has indeed been removed between July 26th and August 1st.
What a mess :(
@mattblaze Once upon a time I did a multi-hour legal tutorial with another presenter at a major conference. Since we were coming at things from differing perspectives, we agreed to split the time evenly.
My opposite number went first & used about 2/3 of the time. IIRC I interjected a couple of times when s/he was flatly misstating the law & s/he basically shouted me down. For the remaining 1/3, I tried ripping through my slides while s/he repeatedly interrupted. #disrespectful #GULC
@20002ist So annoying.
Today I learned that #ImageMagick has been slopped for some time. Like many tools, it's been load-bearing infrastructure for decades.
Meanwhile, the #GraphicsMagick fork has been quietly chugging along for 24 years. For most of that time, it's been maintained by a single human being.
That person has been asking for additional developer help for years now. While I don't have the skills to help directly, I can talk about it while I take their kindly offered toys out for a test drive.

@RussSharek would you know where I can find a list of the kinds of AI built into it now?
There are many reasons for Japan’s low crime rate
@Migueldeicaza Look what they took from us
@franksting the fact you even have to contact support isn't good
@decryption after multiple calls yes. They shoild be following up

@codinghorror I'm a glasses-on kind of gal. I'm also all out of bubble gum.
@femme_mal stay tuned
Deltarune ch 5, Kawkaw appreciation
@rockario they make Yoshi noises
are they related? Yoshi is a dinosaur, and this is the Japanese-inspired chapter
This is, quite possibly, the most entertaining interview i have ever encountered. You simply *must * read it. It keeps getting better with every question.

Novak Djokovic: “I didn’t need it. I’m healthy, I’m an athlete. I had corona. I had immunity. I wasn’t a threat to anyone.” He said vaccination was unnecessary and that choosing whether to get vaccinated was a fundamental human right, “the freedom to choose.” 🤦♂️
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy What a moron.
One critique, though. I wish he'd knock off the (mostly pretend/affectation) schtick about running over time. It's a really bad message to send at a conference. Running over is incredibly disrespectful of the next speakers and conference organizers who are trying to keep things running.

the funniest thing is jeffries being surprised jared leaked the meeting lol
One month in and I'm ever happier to have joined @igalia. As part of the two-person global strategy team, I get to help out across the organization, but right now my focus is on WPE WebKit, Servo, and Moonforge.
Each of these projects is fascinating, full of promise, and at a very different moment in their lifecycle.
... if you ever wanna geek out about browser engines or embedded devices, I'm here for that!

a bell labs paper on optimal task scheduling from 1971! i hate it https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0012365X73901131
imagine:
this reads more like really bleak sci-fi than an actual published work. i am still waiting for anyone to even consider code–data locality and shared resource contention as a scheduling concern, let alone an optimization goal!
