@Gina we do not have depressing weather. We have sleep in weather, stormy weather, sunny weather, stay inside with a cup of tea weather and go outside, get wet, come in and enjoy weather. Unfortunately, the indoor part is becoming very expensive in these areas. However, we just invented work from home.

they keep making the rust code of conduct even worse. "level of experience" listed up front is already deeply obnoxious but i also just realized this just says "we are committed" and doesn't actually tell people not to do hate crimes. all the other lines actively request ("please" lmao) not to do things or even specify the consequences for certain behaviors but they really couldn't stop at "level of experience"
this is always what the code of conduct was about. grants conditioned upon whether a project has a code of conduct were a cynical facsimile of government grants which, for ~60 years, did in fact legally require the recipient not to discriminate. not anymore
I have a general rule to try and not be unkind about the way people look or the choices they make about how they look. Even if they are quite bold and beyond my personal comprehension. For I am by no means the arbiter of good taste. And with that in mind. Here is a photo of John Travolta.

Aside: what is the thing in the background with spools of thread(?) standing on it?
That is my surger/overlock sewing machine! It's a specialized machine that uses multiple spools of thread to create clean raw edges on the seams so that they don't fray. It makes sewing clothing so much faster and efficient!
I was lucky enough to inherit that from my Aunt (who is very much still alive, just not sewing anymore).
@jonny I was going to write a blog post myself about people being fine with things being shitty. I feel like there is a conflict between people who don’t like making things and just want to be done with it and are more than eager to let AI make at best mediocre versions of what humans make, and people who know that this results in garbage being everywhere and are trying to fight that tide. And the craftspeople are losing
