pissed off that the NSA probably has a precise mapping of kernel backdoors to version numbers somewhere cause yeah that shit is obviously useful but because we live in hell we get linus bumping version numbers on a whim and no attempt to map the vulnerabilities he should be responsible for alerting people about. "just live at head" doesn't work when head has even more vulns that haven't been announced yet. constantly fucking cartwheeling

Lang leve de ransuil! Al die stinkende en vervuilende trucks kunnen mij gestolen worden.
Dit zeg ik en kameraden al veel langer, maar fijn dat Tim Hofman het ook zegt. #Polarisatie is goed. #Racisme en #fascisme normaliseer je juist door elke keer maar weer lief in gesprek te gaan met de racisten en fascisten. Lang leve de polarisatie!
@joenepraat precies dit!
@SteveBellovin @20002ist I have also seen an even more horrendous version of this where not only do you need a USB-A cable and charger, but the USB-C connector only works if you plug it in in one (random) orientation.
@mattblaze @SteveBellovin @20002ist as in, you have to flip it over if you realise it isn’t charging? The gall and the gumption, honestly. Modern life is a hassle in so many ways, big and small.
Your sneezes can open portals? Neat trick.
@RussSharek I spent an hour today looking for meme images of Daniel Jackson sneezing. Rewatching the movie would have been faster. 😅
Malware reports are going up and to the right -- in fact we're at 4x year over year (🙃)
The people involved (Mike and Seth) have not 4x'd in response.
So let's talk about some of the attacks we're seeing.
Starting with "Watering Hole Attacks" -- targeting places people are likely to return to.
Shai-Hulud, LiteLLM, Trivy are all examples.
A common loop is:
"Malicious release" -> "Cryptocoins/ransomware/credentials" -> "Get more accounts" -> repeat
Attacks in one ecosystem can spread, because so many companies ship multi-ecosystem packages.

There was an incident in Germany not long ago, when a military base got a message from a landscaping company along the lines of "when are you planning to pick up your land mines?"
A boxcar of munitions had been misrouted, ended up at a random-ass landscaping yard, and everyone just shrugged and went about their day.

This series of four workshops will explore the link between Anarchism and Judaism, and also talk about Palestinian rights of return and anti-zionism. For these sessions three Jewish Anarchists traveled to the PL: Cindy Barukh Milstein, Yuval Dag and Ayelet Gal.
I was not trying to make an argument for DIDs.
I was (also) not even trying to make an argument to stop using Internet domain names. (I think Internet domain names can make things more human-friendly.)
...
I was trying to make an argument for there being something lower-level than Internet domain name based identity (such as acct-URIs). Something that can survive people loosing their Internet domain names.
I.e., let's make using Internet domain names better.
@reiver @julian @silverpill @evan
interesting, how?
@assimilateborg No. The problem is devices that have a USB-C connector but aren't actually USB-C.
