The Spun | Fans Rooting Against Harry Kane After 'Surreal Experience' With President Trump
Meeting Trump when he's not even your president is insane," a second fan replied.
"So we're all rooting for Haaland and Norway, right?" a third fan asked.
"I will never root for you again," another fan said. "Just disgusting and sad."

2029: in a surprise political upset, Count Buckethead comes out ahead in a general election in the UK, becomes Prime Minister of a Green/LibDem/SNP/Rainbow coalition government, then immediately has to do a Zelenskyy and lead a wartime defense against an attempted US invasion incited by Elon Musk and Peter Thiel
I LOVE waking up on a Saturday morning and thinking about nothing but Reflect Orbital and how to fight it. And then sending lots of emails and texts to my many astronomer colleagues who woke up similarly angry this morning.
The one thing that gives me hope is that 99.9% of people who find out about this react by saying some variant of "Wow that's such a stupid, useless, destructive idea." We have to figure out how to leverage that sentiment.
Fuck you, Reflect Orbital. I will keep fighting.
@sullust You can do it while the app is running (as mine do), and apps not sold through the Mac App Store can do it even when they’re not running.

The HTML cat is out of the Web Audio bag. I've finally released HYPERBLAM.
It’s my system for sampling, processing, and sequencing sound and music directly in HTML.

An article can be made directly boostable with #ActivityPub. I call it #APnative and WordPress and Ghost already allow us to publish that way. I desperately want this to happen with podcasts too. Perhaps such that we use AP in addition or instead of RSS as the base of the format.
Can content that works with #ATproto live outside of a PDS? (I'm not sure I'm even asking the question correctly)
cc @mackuba
@wjmaggos @mackuba Wait, wait. If you install a plugin called "pod love", or "podcast love" I don't remember, which creates an "episode" content type. You go to ActivityPub, plugin I mean, and flag "episode" together with "posts" as content which can federate. It should work!
Distinguishing between podcasts is missing, though.
Let's assume you have a site where you talk about sports. You review ANY kind of sports.
The only way to perform a single topic to follow, is creating an author for each podcast "volley @ super sport . ext" or "tennis" or "soccer" etc.
Then you can set your display name to "William" but you'll miss the opportunity to distinguish author bio and podcast description.
Otherwise, with a single author, you run the risk of having follower interested in volley, who receive soccer as well. It's not functional.
Podcast on ActivityPub? There's CastoPod - https://castopod.org

If you find any of those Russian propaganda accounts, those who are posting fake stuff about #Ukrain or anti #Ukrainian disinformation, then report the post or account to @iftas.

@theZosia but for purposes of this poll / discussion I figured I'd start with the absolute least controversial / easiest to pick on and go with $1Bn.
@tim
From my perspective $1M is much more than I have and also well enough to have comfortable retirement, so I'd vote for placing the limit at $1M.
Ask everybody on the Earth and let the limit at the lowest value that will get >50% votes. I think it would be fair.

@mcc@mastodon.social
feels like they are scraping mastodon social feed, posts still apear.
sent a dm to @astro@c3d2.social to opt out.
some people seems to be reciving notifications because of this and it even looks like its wafrn endorsed. and given the great reading comprehension of people in this social network… oh god
@gabboman@gabboman.xyz @astronot@mastodon.online I mean, from a technical point of view, the Announce back to the original author is a courtesy, and could be omitted entirely.
If truly what people are annoyed by is the rewoot/boost "noise", then this is a problem with a very simple solution.
And I believe @evan@cosocial.ca already made a PR to Mastodon so that boosts from bots are now silenced, or something. So really, I don't understand the problem.
