SIE WERDEN KOMMEN !!! (!)
The thing I love most about the US right's obsession with the Spartans, is that the Spartans weren't even good at war. They weren't. 🤷🏿♂️
They were obsessed with *battle*. But battle is not war. When you look at their war track record? They lost as much as they won against the poets, farmers and wine drinkers.🤡
Even their battle win loss record was 50/50, and only if you count battles where they fought as part of a coalition. When you look at battles where they fought alone? They lost more than they won.🤡
Why? A silly belief that they were superior, meant they didn't change tactics. They were predictable.
@mekkaokereke also: the guys that won were the ones with the very good commerce network. That's all I remember from my high school sophomore Introduction to Philosophy class.
Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Sketch Pin. If you ever see someone messing with a Flock camera and police ask you to describe the suspect, this is what they looked like.

I admittedly i don’t have that many coding client projects left these days but in the ones I’ve got left, most of the coders I work with have adopted LLMs
For what it’s worth, they do seem to understand much less, work much slower towards the project’s actual goals, with much more code, and at a lower quality
While asking sillier questions
But they think they’re working so much faster because the tools find the occasional bug and generates so much code
🤷🏻♂️
I'm just a tool, yes I'm only a tool
and I'm value neutral if you're a fool
well, I was made by fascists with a eugenics fervor
you'll get real real sick if you live near my server
and they say I'll be a god someday
they ignore all the pain that i fuel
because they believe I'm just a tool
My understanding, (which is not expert, so shouldn't be relied on without checking) is that pale skin is a really quite recent adaptation/mutation, and that for it to come about two things had to happen.
One was living in northerly areas without strong sun, the other was being reliant on agriculture and starchy foods which was a poorer quality diet with less vitamin D in it than the preceding hunter gatherers had.
So mesolithic europeans were brown skinned, and middle eastern farmers were brown skinned, but then the farmers, or at least farming, moved north-west and when the farmer diet and the lack of sun are combined then pale skin became an advantage for vitD synthesis.
a meager 100 hour first playthough
@creedow alriiiight, congrats, I'm glad there so many people playing Factorio in this community :3
Save the date: Am 22.
@Kairuna @burgundia oh that guy? that guy was an LLM huh? I guess I can't tell the difference these days
@mxchara @Kairuna @burgundia The individual mentioned is a real person using their actual name. Of course, it's totally fine to disagree with their views and choose to block them, but asserting they're an AI bot just isn't accurate.

@afewbugs judging from his pose I'm thinking Twink
presumably his partner, HoneyRoastedHamMan, is close but undiscovered
@christopherkunz Thank you for the input! The scenario is $company is on the brink of signing up for one of the worst us password vault saas and I want to present them a comparable alternative in terms of control, maintenance effort and features. Self hosting is not an option in this case. So certain decisions are a) already locked in and b) i don't make them, I can only offer saner alternatives.
@hukl This is my best (and only) advice, because I have been personally using it for 5+ years (can't remember further): Vaultwarden on a container somewhere.
I have seen that various companies in DE/EU offer VW hosting, so a saas/managed model is out there. but if $company is able to run containers themselves maybe on a k8s cluster, chances are that all the prerequisites are there. If you need to sync users from AD/Entra, there might be a hack, too.

How about "vibe-dontbuyit"?
Oh, there were a bunch of things like this.
For example, in Teams, you can type an at sign and then start someone's name and it will autocomplete their full name so you sound like an angry parent scolding a child. But, you can hit backspace. So someone wanting to address me as David does @Dav{tab}{backspace}.
But a lot of other cultures have very different conventions for names. Indian ones are a staggeringly bad fit for this, which is surprising for a company whose CEO is Indian. There's no way of both notifying an person and using their preferred form of address for a huge number of cases.
@david_chisnall @ashwin @Dav fun tidbit: telegram found an even worse way of handling similar mentions. there, when you forward a message from someone, the name of that account in your local contact list, not its profile name, is copied to the message and will be displayed in the message for all recipients. cue my wife forwarding a private message from me to a large group with my name displaying to everyone as something along the lines of “sweet little cutie pie” 🤣
