AusPost is apparently doing a massive Harry Potter promotion which is also why the post icon changed to a bloody owl this morning

Bloody disgraceful
@FediTips oh! i assumed that on device offline translation was used
It depends what you're using to access Mastodon, some third party apps may support doing that.
(And of course you can copy-paste text into whatever translation system you prefer.)
I did some serious work on that PWA project today and I'm really happy that it's all working nicely now.
I ended up going with a network-first approach because we're on Chromebooks. More often than not, students will have an internet connection. That first load will re-cache all the assets. At home, if they launch, it should pop the cached index page and then load the project from localStorage as if nothing happened.
I need to do more testing, but I think it's about there.

The owner of the server has to pay for the translation service, so doing it automatically could drain your server of the money it needs to keep running.
Servers rely on the support of their users to keep going, as they don't carry any ads or sell anyone's data.

happy to discuss; 5 is kind of close to what I would be okay advocating for at work? otherwise I feel a bit bad that none of the other options really match my specific AI/LLM philosophy but I didn't feel like proposing yet another thing was going to be useful.
the best part about democracy is at the end of the day there's a winner and we (hopefully) move forwards

glad to see others also liked 5 (the winner and my first choice) and similarly rejected 1 and 3.

I don't think Workbench would have needed any changes. It would still have been a fundamentally single-user UI. If there had been a multi-headed Amiga system for multiple users, each user would have run their own instance of Workbench.
Oh, interesting idea!
I did (co)SysOp BBSes on Amigas, Cit68k (Citadel variant) and CNET predominantly.
Both had multiple users, (CNET even had multi-user real time chat with multiple modems) yet they were abstracted away from Workbench and kept within the realms of their BBS paradigms.
I am heartened that Symbolics is apparently releasing Genera source (though my eyes kind of glazed over at the legalese of the application form and I have not yet applied) and I wonder if we'll ever see something similar with Amiga Workbench (as far as I know MorphOS and AROS are more like ReactOS to Windows; reinventions inspired by the original perhaps even offering some level of binary compatibility, yet not sharing any code with the inspiration).
