We have two new open calls for financial and practical support to free and open source technology R&D.
This summer we transitioned from the Next Generation Internet to the Open Internet Stack, both initiatives of the European Commission.
Much will stay the same. The granting mechanism has the same offerings and requirements as before, and the new programs will continue to offer a wide range of freely available support services.
Deadline for applications is November 3.

Finding the #Gradle tasks that are slowing you down just got easier. We keep repeating it: productive builds and test runs are a combination of good infrastructure and an optimized project that takes advantage of it, and we'll further invest in both:

Things everybody needs to hear more often:
- you are loved
- your feelings are valid
- you deserve rest
- you don't need to be available at all times
- that's not a raven, that's a crow
- it's okay. a crow is a pretty big and cool bird, too
I got my bright, shiny, new icon from The @Iconfactory!
Working on Stream has gotten a bit sidetracked because of the move so my plan to be in the store for Mac and iOS on Golden Gate day has been put on hold. I have no idea when I'll be able to come back to it. Basically the month of September is for moving, cleaning, and doing whatever needs doing to fully be out before October. That includes moving our trailer and emptying a storage shed we rent.
Lots going on at the Fahrni household!
Meow #cat
The cat ears on my headphones get clipped out when I'm on a work call in Google Meets. Microsoft Teams on the other hand, mostly does not. I'm discovering this while in a client meeting with the C-level 🙃
@anyia Those are my PROFESSIONAL cat ears, thank you very much!
@davidgerard @david_chisnall @errant @zzt Prolog is a language for logical programming. You can build yourself a dataset of facts and rules, and then omit any piece in a logical clause to show all solutions that would solve this puzzle for the facts and rules you have in your database.
For example, first define the facts that David hates LLMs and fascists:
hates(David, LLMs)
hates(David, fascists)
Now you can query your database to find out what things David hates:
hates(David, ???)
LLMs
fascists
Alternatively, you could "search your database" of facts for who else also hates LLMs:
hates(???, LLMs)
David
@davidculley @davidgerard @errant @zzt
LLMs and David are variables, fascists is an atom in Prolog. Please do not accidentally unify me with LLMs.

> "Average citizen loves AI" factoid actualy statistical error. Average citizen hates AI. GPUs Jensen, who lives under a triangulated dome and makes love to AI continuously, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
@davidgerard average citizen hates “AI” but loves “ChatGPT”. It’s understandable to hate the thing costing you and love the thing helping you, even if it’s the same thing.
They say you never go hungry at the beach.
It’s probably because of all the sand, which is everywhere.
I never go anywhere myself without a castle on my head 🏰
@davidgerard I used to have a take like that on other topics and as far as intentions go, it might be a good faith attitude too. Examples where it worked is alcohol and other drugs as well as gambling. Some stuff is better regulated than prohibited. Not sure, though, how applicable to AI would that be.
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
