I have no idea how I'm going to accomplish even half of the things I'm supposed to do in the next month. I feel rather paralyzed at the moment. I have so many farm things (bringing in the straw tonight, harvesting/preserving all sorts of veggies, moving the goat fence ever-faster on grass that's drying up and not growing anymore). My kids start school next week. My teaching is going to be a fucking disaster this semester. And I have to write a new research grant. Fuck.
But positives: yesterday I walked into a local coffee shop and there was an article about Reflect Orbital on the front cover of the town newsletter!! ...then I realized that it was actually *my* article, reprinted from The Conversation hahahaha https://theconversation.com/the-u-s-just-approved-a-giant-space-mirror-to-test-sunlight-on-demand-low-earth-orbit-is-getting-weird-283482
I did have a great time with my parents who were visiting for a few days. And a neighbour dropped off buckets of ground-fall apples for us to feed the goats. So. Happy goats.

folks, i'm sorry to inform you that justin m. keyes, the primary dev of @neovim absolutely hated the idea of removing an endorsement by a bona fide fascist from the main webpage of the neovim editor.
what happened: i've opened a ticket asking to remove the heinemeier hansson quote; keyes responded to the ticket a few times, first with simply “don't care”, then with more angry elucidation, then closed as not planned, and finally the issue was removed altogether).
unfortunately i have only mail receipts, which missed the rage part of the episode.
lmao, that blog post is so long ago that I talk about the rn42 and the esp8266 instead of the ESP32.

i realized i actually will almost definitely have to be doing more than a bignum library and something much closer to like a group theory interactive proof system. at the very least for performing tests like determining whether an element g is a generator of a cyclic subgroup of order l in F_q.
that would absolutely be something (like curve generation) to perform separately from key generation (and possibly even strictly at compile time). i absolutely want to make sure there's a strict separation between "validate the parameters of the desired secret machine" [not at runtime] and "initialize the secret machine with an input" [at runtime]

It's something that has been broken on Linux for half a decade too, it just got accidentally fixed in new code (that is currently Linux only) and meanwhile it happens to be much more visible on macOS since that platform uses TIFF for clipboard image interchange.
