@cstanhope De La Soul released 3 Feet High and Rising in '89, and that's the oldest hip hop record that I keep on a regular rotation.

There were some gems before that (like La Di Da Di), but 3 Feet was hip hop's "British invasion moment", IMHO. After that—and then Low End Theory by Tribe in '91—it felt like rap music knew what it was.
