Collection #LesEcologistes : https://pouet.chapril.org/collections/117144048214621945
We are at 9 days to the next #curl release and we have only *three* pending CVS to announce (two low, one medium).
Three is like nothing!

I am apparently NOT allowed under ANY circumstances to buy a drinks globe despite always wanting one.
The urge to keep all the tabs open is not a recent thing.

@jwildeboer The stove in our new house inexplicably has WiFi. That's staying disconnected for sure 😬
@floe @jwildeboer A sales person at the electronics store after we declined the wifi upgrade for the fridge: "ah maybe you are not into tech"
We are into tech, that is why we don't want a fridge to be on wifi.
@David J'ai l'impression que la culture français a aussi tendance à exacerber le problème, en donnant plus d'importance aux «principes» qu'aux résultats…
I've managed to get a new module up on Arca for the first time in a while: this one's a Websites 101 piece on using Arca to build simple static websites. This section covers getting set up with Astro, HTML, Markdown and a bit of very, very basic CSS.
I'm feeling good about having gotten it out because the state of the engineering fundamentals resources was bugging me. We're getting, little by little, somewhere better.

As far as the USA's former allies are concerned, #Trump and #MAGA is what the #USA stand for. Sure, the USA might put a non-MAGA president back in power, but for how long is that going to last?
We thought that George W. Bush was an aberration, and thought we might repair this relationship once Obama was elected. We were wrong. As far as the political world stage is concerned, MAGA is what the _USA_ is, in all ways that matter on that level. And the Republicans are utterly committed to that movement, so any progress made by hypothetical Democrat presidents will be undone by the next Republican president.
There is no fixing this relationship from outside. Thus, we need to divest ourselves of any and all American influence in our politics and economy for the foreseeable future. Pretending that the USA are not utterly hostile to us will only cause us suffering.
My sympathies go out to the Americans who fought against Trump and MAGA. But we need to deal with the reality as it is, not as we want it to be.
@juergen_hubert To paraphrase an old quote from I Claudius, Trump is the rash that America comes out in. The disease is deeply embedded at a country level. The better presidents were more skilled at masking the symptoms.
Yes, there are good Americans, but their culture needs changing. It’s not going to survive anyway on its current rate of consuming five planets worth of resources a year.
Update: ListenBrainz is currently under attack from multiple distributed botnets.
We are doing our best to mitigate it, but (as almost always) they use masses of residential IPs, many UAs, and are almost impossible to block without also blocking legitmate users. Thank you for bearing with us! -a
@ListenBrainz Assholes, why should they do this…?
Thanks so much for your work people! ❤️
So uhm has anyone here ever moved abroad by themselves? And by any chance to a much smaller town?
I feel like I'm about to commit social su*cide 🥲 #moveabroad

the other fucking diffie and hellman paper that wasn't the first one was literally describing how easy it would be to build and run a computer system to crack DES. that's not theoretical at all
If one is trying to design efficient protocols, it makes more sense to start off making strong, realistic assumptions about the primitives that will be used. Based on the paragraph above, a pseudorandom function on 64-bit strings is an excellent starting point. As we describe below, it seems reasonable to adopt even more generous assumptions.
yeah we should make it give us back free secrecy if the global active adversary says sorry
Pwning the stuff on your desk with a bit of "AI" for reverse engineering. A frightening experience. And a hint for me to continue to move to devices that ideally don't have firmware at all or at the very least can run airgapped by default.

Alonzo-dev news: I fixed a few nil-dereference bugs so function bodies can be rendered. Once I've synthesized something rudimentary to render.
Its still not rendering sufficiently for me to interact with, but at least it is rendering!
Now I'm in my issue tracker planning out next steps...
https://codeberg.org/alcinnz/Alonzo/issues
I suppose I need to lookup algorithms for typechecking whether a pattern-match expression is complete? Or perhaps with interactivity this will wind up irrelevant.
And since this is a visual language... What would be more helpful: Should I synthesize catch-all branches? Or should I synthesize branches for all variants of a tagged-union?
I welcome input from functional programmers!
2/1!
