today is the Blacksky Mixer and also bring Simba to work day.
How do you pluralise Mx? In the same way that Mr > Messrs and Ms > Mmes?
@afewbugs gosh, I don't pluralize any of them, just distribute the label (? honorific? M-thingie?) in front of each person.
So, Mx A and Mx B just like Ms C and Mr D ....
🦾 How does the brain turn a planned movement into action?
A team led by Bernstein member Ilka Diester investigated how neurons coordinate movement planning and execution — findings that could help improve mind-controlled prostheses.

I'm delighted to discover:
... listing how you can set dependency cooldowns across various package ecosystems.
If you're the sort of person who's less interested in fixing individual problems than in causing entire classes of problem to not exist, a seven-day cooldown default will do that for you.
US president declares “any country that allows” economic institutions “to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences.”
China, Russia, and every other country trading with Iran shrugs.
No credibility. Americans voted to make the country’s word worthless.
@parleur Bah justement, après ce premier trajet, j’ai emmené le demi-m³ restant dans ma voiture avec un deuxième vélo sur le porte-vélo xD

@zzepposs @zelf I have heard about this event before but looking on the website https://freedomnotfear.org/2026/save-the-date-fnf26 I don't see any outline of who or what you will actually talk about. The last post being made in April seems like its still sorta in planning phase?
Mxn, pronounced "micksen."
@passenger thank you!
i think encryption as strictly defined with a statically sized key and a fixed size input and an algorithm with no other inputs can be brute forced by necessity. but one significant result of my parsing method is to completely fail to disambiguate between the cases of streaming (not all data known at once) or fixed input. the double ratchet method generates new keys constantly, but doesn't stretch randomness across the KDF chain, or vary the key length per message. what if these lengths were somehow more fluid? what if there were not a 1:1 invertible AES-GCM operation per message?
like intermixed with the ciphertext there would be DH handshake information and the parameterization of that switching occurs according to some function specified with reference to previously shared information. because i don't like that you can just try all keys and get the answer. but if you can't determine the message boundaries then you can't really do that. and if you can also send message content out of order then you break the one very strong assumption that my parsing method relies on
Calling on fediverse moderators: if you see a post that kind of, sort of borders on racism, but you're not really too sure: yep, you're definitely dealing with a racist.

None of the redesigns and user experience tweaks will matter if we can't make this place welcoming to everyone.

Is it just me? There is sometimes such a big disconnect between how we feel about the fediverse and how it actually is.
Every poll I've seen about alt text suggests we all use it.
But then you look at results posted by @AltTextHealthCheck.
So many seem to agree that racism and mansplaining and gatekeeping are bad.
Can anyone say any of this has actually improved over the past few years?
Or have we collectively just driven enough marginalized people away that we don't see the complaints as often?
@afewbugs If faced with a group including more than one nonbinary person, I think you just revert to "guys, gals and nonbinary pals" <ducks>
@considermycat It's kind of for a joke, but I started out making ridiculously over formal invitations for something and now have to write one to an enby couple and don't want to have to go back and do the others 😂
@glicht Thanks so much for saying so! It means everything to me.
It would be *super* helpful if you could share your feelings about the book, here or on other platforms, tagging the publisher Verso if you can. The book barely exists for them, sadly.
And by all means let me know if you’re interested in meeting folks who are organizing around the book – it’s straightforward enough to put you in touch. 👊
@adamgreenfield lets talk by email. Do you have an address?
@soph it’s just hard to like something you’re very bad at
