HE'S HOME!!!!
40 posters around the area. Probs 100 or so doors knocked on yesterday.
A young girl had come to the door with her dad at one, when we'd knocked. She spotted him while coming home from a park. She and her friends alerted an adult who got the number off a nearby poster and rang us.
He is now full of chicken and enjoying recovery hugs.
See? They do that, walkabouts!

C’est les vacances !!! (À #velo). Direction la Suisse Normande (qui comme son nom l’indique est en Normandie, avec nos vieux VTT. Celui de Bénédicte a plus de 35 ans et le mien au moins 10.
10 years ago to the day I was in Maine with my sister and mother, staying with one of my oldest and dearest friends. We scrambled along rocky beaches, and went to a bunch of my favourite cafes and distilleries in Portland. It was my mother's first time in the state, and it was fun to get to show her around a place I'd visited multiple times before. My sister was, back then, the healthiest person in my family, climbing rocks like a mountain goat.
I keep crying the last few days, and I'm struggling whenever I see photos from that long ago. My sister so vibrant, myself still so hopeful.
So many people are travelling right now, and posting about it on social media. I love seeing the photos and hearing the stories, and yet I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm also desperately envious. So many places I'd rather be than here.
Maybe I am being petty and like, idfk, to put it bluntly, fucking crazy here but I am about to fucking scream.
An. had a surgery 3 weeks ago to get a benign tumor out of her brain. Obviously this means C.'s had to spend a lot of time with her while she's recovering to help out and stuff, no problems there. I'm ready for that.
But this means I am feeling very lonesome and emotionally fatigued because. I have had. Maybe 8 hours total. With my primary. In those 3 weeks.
She is getting steadily better though! And yanno, tomorrow is mine and C.'s anniversary so we're taking today. Finally. To have a good solid chunk of time together. He can't overnight so I'll still be a bit lonely and won't see him on our actual anniversary day but it's fine. Whatever.
Me yesterday: "hey I'm going over to H.'s, what time should I be back?"
C.: "early morning. I'll call you when I'm awake."
Cool, a little play by ear. But I can do that.
So we're both up at 7. By 7:30 I let him know I'm on my way home (and my drive would be 40 minutes while his would be 20)
C.: "I'm making sure An. has breakfast before I go"
Me: "cool. I'll pick up dunkin for myself on my way back so you're good to enjoy a meal there"
Then. Fucking. 8:45.
C.: "I'm waiting on a laundry load to finish so it's going to be another hour and a half"
WHAT. IN THE. ENTIRE. FUCK.
I am about to fucking crashout here this is not how I wanted to start my morning
Things that are pissing me off ahead of time.
I'm gonna talk somewhere nerdy about disliking model-generated code, then at some point Mr. "Yet You Participate In Society" will point out that some tool I use contains model-generated code and at the murder trial I'm gonna be screaming "BECAUSE THAT'S ALL I CAN FIND ANYMORE YOU JACKASS"
Stop thinking of a "network" as a big thing.
They can be small too, the same software works, but the priorities are different.
... until he worked out that if he got it wrong on the first attempt he'd get a second biscuit.
@nowster Awww, that's adorable too ♥️

Why so secretive about all your water use, Big Tech?
What have you got to hide?
"The Dalles spent 13 months fighting to keep Google’s water use secret — then records showed the data center campus consumed roughly a third of the Oregon city’s supply."

I had my personal pension with AJ Bell until they decided to advertise on GB News. When I contacted them they just doubled down. So I just transferred my pension to a provider who gave me an assurance they wouldn't fund hate (Interactive Investor).

@jeffjarvis Every time you read an op-ed from these places, always do a cursory background check on who’s writing these single ply editorials:
“Lyman Stone is a demographer and the director of the Pronatalism Initiative at the Institute for Family Studies.”
(He’s also a former missionary)
Sane people don’t expect an infinite boom/line go up scenario for most things in life. Eventually, what goes up, must come down.
