We had one once that decided the leaves of the orange tree were delicious, and totally ignored the fruit but stripped most of the leaf from the tree before curling up in a ball in the compost heap.

It does explain what the 'weird animal that sounds about cat-sized but definitely isn't a cat' was from the front of the house though. I had figured possum, I just hadn't heard what they sounded like when they weren't actively fighting each other.

Does anyone have experience hosting their own Discord* bot? I’d love to make a few shortcuts for a server, but most of the off-the-shelf bots are either way overkill or too janky. But I don't want to be a sysadmin, either. 😬
There are a handful of services out there from a quick search, but I’m interested in hearing first-hand experiences.
*I know, I know. I’m working with what I have. I am NOT interested in solutions/replies involving switching to Matrix, Zulip, Mattermost, etc. at this time.
@cassidy I ran a simple bot on Deno Deploy. Straight-forward and cheap in my experience.

1) you are bad people who have misunderstood the concept of graduate students entirely.
2) I guarantee you that your students have already replaced you with LLMs because they provide more effective advising.
