Hi 👋 we are drip!
A menstrual cycle and fertility tracking app that is:
🔮 open source
🩸 feminist
🔒 secure
🔬 science based
drip is an ongoing work in progress.
The first stable version was released in 2019 for Android, since then lots of things were added and more are to come \o/.
We just got funding by the @PrototypeFund.
Really enjoying the AI-Bridges Symposium (I'm attending virtually, from the Arcadia office in other part of London).
Exciting to be playing with the Wikidata MCP. Probably my first time actually consciously using MCP.
Curiously it hits the exact use case I have for LLMs -> generating better wikidata SPARQL queries.
Also first time playing with the Mistral LLM.
@TechTangents I've ran into this too occasionally, it's always with really obscure stuff. It's super annoying because obviously you want it and they don't.
(A few times I got stuff for a fair price by directly messaging the seller.)
@thomasfuchs
I just don't get seeing multiple listed for price $X having zero sales history, and then listing it for *more*.
I did recently have an above average ebay interaction where I messaged a seller about combining shipping for a bunch of magazines and they ended up giving me free shipping for buying them all. So not everyone is like these game sellers thankfully.
Magnifica Humanitas e IA
@aitech - Davvero sarebbe stata scritta usando l'IA? Ho molti dubbi
@JubalBarca I can't even identify why
@Cyborgneticz Ah, in my case I partly can identify why, but the reasons are largely things that I either can't do much about or make me feel worse to contemplate much, or both. I'm not sure if that's better though!
Sending solidarity and comfort as best I'm able.
Dear Fedi friends,
I hereby present you my new favorite website: https://isaiprofitable.com, which tracks the spending and revenue of all the major AI companies.
Oh it is glorious - the perfect link to share with AI-pilled people in your life.
Spoiler alert: there is a NO in big red letters on the homepage. And there's a running tally of the money spent on AI since the page loaded.
@davidgerard you would love it
I'm engaged in a Mastodon chat with someone like this right now. I sent them the URL, but I don't think they opened it.
It's difficult to convince someone of something when their paycheck depend on them not understanding it.

This does not just affect gaming, but all general purpose compute.
Supply chains and value chains are breaking and will not come back. Artificial AI demand is cornering any kind of non-cloud-computing.
Instead of running 3 years, local compute will have to run 10 years. Supply chains crumble, accessory industries die out. iFixit will, for a short time, see a boom.
This is already happening: All major mainboard vendors are seeing -25% demand. NVidia will stop producing and selling end-user gaming cards. Memory prices force the pricing of gaming consoles like the steam desk upwards by 50%. Server hardware sees similar price hikes.
To get workloads done in time and budget, you need to cloudify them.
And cloud computing will come with plenty of "security", that is, an AI layer that judges your code, presumed intent and purpose. For espionage ("market analysis"), content and mass control. If it does not please, it will be turned off and your account will be banned.
Running local hardware will then become an act of resistance, aka terrorism, and is suspect, because it escapes the "security network".
That's the endgame playbook.
This reminds me the 2K dotcom era, and specifically this french parody website.😋

@Edent You should check out the bar 'Vinstue 90' very nearby for imo a very Danish experience!
Get the 'slow beer' only available there :)
@sunray it was excellent! Bloody good beer. Thanks 😄
As #Ukrainian commander,Yevhen Karas,predicts a collapse of #Moscow's aerial defense,I think abt Soviet engineer #ValeryYarinich who blew the whistle on #Perimeter,an automatic system that,in the event of the decapitation of USSR leadership,would have launched a #nuclearStrike
I urge you not to trust anyone who tells you that, yes, the risk of #NuclearWeapons does exist, but the last 81 years show that human rationality will protect us from annihilation.
Declassified documents on nuclear accidents and crises prove that this is NOT the case

am i having a stroke, is this satire? what the fuck does this mean?
@Transbian_Arsonists it means "how dare the guys I tried to shake down hire competent lawyers"
I can drop a record, so that is available for people to listen or I could drop a project which means it is not available.
If I dust my home I remove dust. If I dust a cake I am adding dust (well sugar… but you get it).
I Keep thinking about the number of contronyms in English. These are words that mean the opposite of themselves.
In English you can clip paper (together) with a paper clip or (like Norwegian) you can clip paper (meaning to cut it up). So clip means both to attach and to seperate.
@ruari Clip is fascinating since we also (used to) call cuttings from a news paper "clippings" (as in cutting out a specific article). And we have "hedge clippers" for working on trimming a tree/bush and there is no comparable version of "way to stick parts of a tree back together" that involves the word.

@bitwarden Can we also talk about the need to click ”Unlock with TouchID” twice before actually using TouchID to unlock the vault on MacOS?
Why have it done twice? First click takes you to an absolutely unnecessary page with the button that calls the function for TouchID. Why not just enable the functionality on the main unlock page and save the extra step?

New IEA report confirms what we've been yelling about: this isn't a normal digital industry. It is a fossil-fuelled, high-polluting heavy industry producing socially corrosive products at massive climate cost.
