NEW: Line 5 Pipeline Reroute Endangers Maple Trees and Native Lifeways

Ashland, Wisconsin – Northern Wisconsin residents gathered to boil maple sap along the banks of the Bad River, on Canadian oil giant Enbridge’s pipeline easement for its 41-mile Line 5 reroute on March 29, 2026. Enbridge started construction activities in late February, despite numerous ongoing lawsuits challenging its operation of the pipeline.

@evan I don't want it to be Gavin Newsom, but he is *exactly* the sort of candidate that the national committee loves to thumb down on the scales to shove down our throats. It would take a Herculean effort by the left to get anyone more palatable on the ballot, and then the (D) would try to "balance" the ticket by blackmailing the candidate into naming a veep somewhere to the right of Fetterman.

A few nights ago, around 4:30, I heard an owl calling several time out the open window, probably from within 100m. I know we've had (introduced ex Germany) Little Owls in the valley, but after listening to some calls on iNaturalist, I'm fairly certain
it was the other option, our native Aotearoa Ruru (Morepork)... very cool to have them in the 'hood!

anyway the reason I was hacking this is that I want to know how it communicates with my monitor, so I can do it myself instead of using their weird abomination of an app.

Answer seems to be SetVCPFeature & GetVCPFeatureAndVCPFeatureReply from the DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) API
