The Iran war is driving demand across the world for renewables. For example, in March, demand for solar across Africa rose 176% month on month to reach 10 GW.

Interessantissimo articolo.

Do you have an example of stealth solar?
I've been thinking a lot about 'stealth solar' where people attach #solarpanels to places in a subtle way to capture the sun's energy. It might be stealth as there are strict rules or just want to keep it low key. #balconysolar is sort of stealth gone mainstream.
With cheaper MPPT devices you can now accept slightly poorer efficiency due to placement and with microinverters don't need to make long strings. I particularly think that there is no point having a solar panel in storage, best get it out there and generating even if it's in a temporary place!
So I thought I'd start a small website that documents different stealth setups, so if you have cheeky solar panels and would be willing to share a little info (but not too much if it would get you in trouble) get in touch.

@bri7 that’s right. Boomer is a state of mind (mental condition)
Techbros, managers, billionaires: Wow this technology is perfect, it's just like all the smartest people I surround myself with
Everyone else: Wow this technology sure is sycophantic as fuck huh
"We do everything and have all the features" leads to a monolith and all-or-nothing adoption (and thus lock-in). That's what Microsoft is doing and it is worrying that Nextcloud embraces this strategy.

Saying goodbye to West Liguria (la Liguria di ponente), by beloved motherland.
This place is thorn by indifference, one of the oldest populations in Europe, worrying corruption, overtourism and many other invisible plagues.
Yet, it is still a raw, sincere, corner of this mad country, where creatures continue to resist and hope.
If you want to get a taste of what it is like, join us on 26-30 August 2026 at Scambi Festival, one of the only two cultural events organised by under-30s in this side of the region (the other is Brucia Festival and it’s happening next week!) 🔥
My theorem is proven every time I come back here: Sanremo is gorgeous and even exciting for up to 10 days. The 11th you just want to get out of there—but not forever ❤️

@kopper @hongminhee ...at least, for an Image that has multiple representations, this is a lot more necessary than for an Image with only one representation.
it's really a question of what the identifier identifies. AS2 is un/fortunately loose enough that people stick ids of the blobs in the same properties that may or may not expand to an Image object with multiple url
@kopper @hongminhee (think of a CDN or image proxy server that lets you live-resize images or convert to whatever format using query parameters, then think about how that maps to AS2, then cry a lot)

Mastodon leaves open massive holes that function as harassment opportunities. Users can't block replies; and harassers are often given the benefit of the doubt. I wrote about this here:

As some of the replies to OP state, as there is new leadership it's time to bring these issues forward (again)
There are good customer service people and GOOD customer service people. I just talked to an extremely wonderful and competent customer service person who made my day just a little bit lighter. Thank you 🙏
Today I was once again reminded that not all disabilities are visible.
A elderly neighbour I would regularly exchange pleasantries with started ignoring me on the street when I would say: Hi. I was surprised, and thought I may have done something to offend them. I would wave and say hello, sometimes they would react, other times it was as if I wasn't there.
They came up to me today and asked me how I was, and shared how stressful it was to be going deaf, after being able to hear for their entire life. They had gone progressively more deaf in one ear and they weren't ignoring me at all.
@kopper @hongminhee i think you could upload the binary media to one endpoint, get an https: url for its Location header, and turn around and Create an Image or whatever with that Location header as the url.href of your new Image
although now that this topic comes up: there is a lack of clarity around "image" vs "image representation", since Image assumes "image" and not "image representation". as:url is nominally that "representation" and i wish it was better defined that this was the case...
